Murray Thompson MLA
Murray attended Caulfield Grammar and went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law Degree as well as a Diploma of Education at the University of Melbourne.
He was admitted as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1982 and before taking up a career in politics Murray and his wife ran their own general law practice.
Murray’s love for the beach led him to become President of the Royal Life Saving Society (Victoria) in 1996. He has also been involved with the Rotary Club of Huntingdale and was co-opted onto the Sandringham College school council.
Sports and an active lifestyle come naturally to Murray. Between 1973 and 1976 Murray was a VFL football player, playing senior football for a strong Richmond side.
Murray has held a number of portfolios while in opposition including being Liberal spokesman for Multicultural Affairs, Aboriginal Affair & Citizenship from 2000 to 2006. He has also been Shadow Minister for Housing, Veterans’ Affairs
